Fable of the porcupine

It was the coldest
winter ever. Many animals died because of the
cold. The porcupines, realizing the situation, decided
to group together. This way they covered and protected
themselves; but the quills of each one wounded their closest
companions even though they gave off heat to each other.

After a while, they decided to distance themselves one
from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen.
So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of
their companions or disappear from the Earth. Wisely,
they decided to go back to being together. This way they
learned to live with the little wounds that were caused by the
close relationship with their companion, but the most
important part of it was the heat that came from the others.
This way they were able to survive.

The best relationship is not the one that brings
together perfect people, but the best is when each individual
learns to live with the imperfections of others and can admire
the other person's good qualities.

The Moral of the story:

LEARN TO LOVE THE PRICKS IN YOUR LIFE.

THIS TOO SHALL PASS

These words seem to become more and more real to me everyday. I was just thinking of these words and a few thoughts came to my heart and I wanted to drop a few of them into your lives. In your life you will find certain mountains and valleys, storms and rough seas, peaceful calm oceans currents and serene calming breezes. You have to take the good with the bad, light and the day, pain and pleasure.

These are the pages of your life, planting and harvest, reaping and sowing, stringing the guitar and changing the strings, brand new tires and having to replace them.

Think of when a year ago what were we dealing with...a year before that what were we dealing with and before that....you see what I am saying that these things that come into our lives only come to make us better or bitter? When the days of life seem to drag on you can be certain that just as the sun rises so your life will change. So put on the headphones and shut your eyes and rest for this too shall pass

A prayer that has guts

A Pastor with GUTS! Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people.. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard: Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance.
We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done.
We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare..
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem.....
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.. Amen!

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India , Africa and Korea .

SOme food for your soul

You know a lot of people have these thoughts today about heaven, hell the after life eternity. Is there something beyond the wide open space of sky? Is there life after death? I for one believe so, and I am not afraid to share my thoughts with you on this matter either, but I believe. I have this deep sense of there is something more. Now before you go ahead and turn the page or shut me down, or maybe agree with me before any of that I would ask for just one more moment.

If you think that there is nothing beyond the grave than that is fine but how sad your life will be. If this is all there is than I am the most pitiful of men. Yet I have had an experience in my heart that I KNEW that I know there is something more.
We always think these thoughts around the time when some one we know dies or someone who is close to you has had someone die. One thing is for certain we are going to make that appointment.

I was driving my car talking on the phone with a friend of mine who had just lost a personel friend of his family and he was sharing with me about the way this person died. How there felt that Jesus himself just sort of came into the room and took this dear person who was suffering greatly with cancer in their bodies. I thought about that moment with the friend of mine.

I asked myself,"How will it be for me on that day?" Will I be afraid? Would I be ashamed of the way I lived my life or would I be happy, and felt that I did the best I could? There is a word in the bible that is a musical reference. To 'SelA' puase and calmly think about that. I would ask you to re read the last sentence and SELA

I would want all of you be thankful and not have any regrets on that day. I asked myself in that moment I should have no fear because I have trusted the ONE who died for me in my place. I have believed on the ONE who has been merciful to me my entire life. You may go about your business and say I am foolish and wasting my time, but say you are wrong and I am right? I am trying to spend my life and live it in such a way that it blesses the LORD and to serve Him because I love Him. If I am right and you are wrong, you will come to that dreadful day of discovery and regret having not made the choice to follow and trust.

If I am wrong and you are right, than I have spent these few days on earth living in peace and loving everyone and having a joy that is beyond all comparision. Am I to say thatfire insurance of sorts? NO I choose to love my wife, I choose to love my children I choose to love period. Out of that choice I bear fruit and I serve, not out of fear, or obligation Love is the great motivator to me. In all of this and in light of this are the great and presious promises of GOD.

He states in His WORD; 'I will never leave you or forsake you; 'Ask of me and I shall give it'; 'In this world you WILL have trouble, but I have overcome the world.' Remain in ME and I will remain in You.....I will write more on this later but if you do just one thing,.....SELA

Which is better: A Solid State Amp, or a Tube/Valve Amp?

While the answer may be easy for you to decide, this debate has seems to be fairly equal in both camps.

There is an interesting article at epinions.com, where the author did a sound test and apparently they participants couldn’t tell the difference between a solid state amp and a tube amp.

Guitar amps have come a long way since the electric guitar was first conceived. However, the advances in technology has not had the impact on amplifiers that one would have predicted. Tube Amplifiers, for now, appear be the king of tone in the guitar world.

Tube amplifiers use a series of old fashioned tubes to provide power, distortion, and tone. Solid State amplifiers rely on transistors, and sometimes software, to provide the tone. They both have the same job, to amplify the sound of your guitar, however they both sound totally different, with good points and bad.
Solid State Amps
The Pros:
Solid State Amp

Solid State Amp

* Usually have clean sounds, crisp and accurate.
* Quick and responsive to your playing.
* Can take more abuse in moving since there are very few fragile parts.
* Require less maintenance.
* Can emulate many different amplifiers at the push of a button.

The Cons:

* Lacking “warmth” – Usually sounds cold and sterile.
* Distortion is usually sharp sounding “like razorblades”.
* Lacking Individual Tone. Most Solid State amps all sound very similar and will sound the same with almost any player.

Tube/Valve Amps
The Pros:

*

Tube Amp

Tube amps are best known for their warmth. They are pleasing to the ear, something you can not justify in a laboratory. Scientists have no way of measuring the warmth, which is probably the reason that they have not been able to duplicate it in a solid state amp.
* Each tube amp sounds different, each with its own unique tone. No two guitarists will sound the same through the same tube amp, as the amp will respond to the individuals playing technique in a totally different way. Tube amps have been described by many veteran guitarists as “Tone Monsters”.
* Tube amps sound fat and thick, and will sound even fatter as the volume is turned up, creating that famous wall of sound. Tube amps sound HUGE!
* Tubes, by their very nature of operation distort sound, and do so in the most pleasing way to the human ear, by Pushing and Pulling on each other. You can read more about how tubes work on wikipedia.
* Tubes compress your sound in several ways, usually when to much power is demanded from the output transformer. The transformer can not handle the signal peaks and softly rounds them off, causing even more distortion. Trust me, it’s a good thing.
* Unmatched in power and clarity (ie. 20W tubes can easily match the power of a 200W solid state)

The Cons:

* Dosen’t sound as good at low volumes. Sounds better when you play them loud.
* If you play every week, tubes will last a little over a year before they start to loose their tone. They need to be replaced and that will cost anywhere from $80 to $250.
* Tube amps cost a lot more than a solid state.
* You can’t instantly get access to different amps “emulated” sounds with the click of a button. Generally, if you use a tube amp, you would use guitar pedals to create different sounds. Here’s my list of the top 3 pedals you’ll need.
* Tube amps in general are very heavy.

In summary, every guitarist is searching for that the ultimate tone producing guitar, amp and pedal combination. As we grow as guitar players, we will no doubt make many different purchases, and every now and then hopefully we will come across something magical. When you play the perfect guitar and amp combination, it’s a feeling like no other!

Desert Thunder--Marines tribute.

Simple mans plea

I must say this, I was going to post it on my facebook then I thought I talk to long and the message is to big for a snipet, and to deep for a quick glance. I warn you in love this will not be easy to read, or easily received, but you will know it is the TRUTH. You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

We are in great need in America, for anyone not to see this or speak out would be foolish. I am a simple man with simple ideas and dreams I do not nor have I ever pretended to be anything else. I must say what is on my heart is as a burning flame, that will burn some and cool others. I say this all in love and humbly pray that you will receive it and hear it.

Our nation has lost its way, there is division upon division, the economy is almost destroyed, our leaders have given away our country, we make our allies = enemy's, our enemy's = friends, (speaking of Israel and a few other nations) the sleeping giant is in a coma worried about what people will think about her, worried about not offending anyone, she may have some scars, and at times been a prostitute, a wayward wife, yet the madness needs to stop and some one needs to try to wake her up from her drunken stuper! She has got drunk and given herself away to anyone who would have her. Trust me I know that this is not easy to read or write but you and I both know it is the truth.

This country is headed for disaster as with the rest of the world unless we realize that the answer is not in our government, not with someone else but with you and me. There is a hope for our land. I am just sharing my heart with you. The woman I am speaking of is....the church of Jesus Christ. Who is this church.....You and Me It is not some far away country or some group of people from down the street. We are the church, we need to stop this fighting and back biting amongst us. We need to head the clairion call of Jesus and deny our self and take up our cross and follow Jesus.

Now I know that there are a lot of you who will stop reading this here, or will say to your heart,"that is just Mark being silly or foolish" you may even say, " Mark I know you you are broken and not perfect how can you say what you say, or are going to say?" I am not perfect, I am broken just like the rest of us, but we need to cry out to GOD for grace and mercy to help us be what we are called to be. I am very simple, the GOD of the bible is still alive and well, He did not go anywhere. He is the same yesterday,today and forever. If that is so, than we need to stop pretending that everything is alright and we need to cry aloud like the people of old and say, "God you saved us, you started this work in me no please finish it, help me to be what you need me to be.ONE like you do, and please HEAL OUR LAND!"

I am convinced it is not a democrat or a republican that is going to change this land, but it is you and me doing the will of GOD one day at a time. Praying DOWN the power of Heaven to flow thru this land. We need to stop just going to church as a building and chilling out and singing a few songs then going home and not being effective or being impotent. Some of you are more worried about everyone else and how they live rather than really looking at your own heart and asking," Am I doing everything the God wants me to do?"

These dudes asked Jesus, in John chapter 6 " what do we have to do to do the work that God requires? Jesus said, " the work of God is to believe in the one whom he has sent" If we believe that Jesus really did die for me,If He was raised from the dead, if He is real than I want Him to use me and fill me with everything that He is to change the world one person at a time.

Now I know I have said a lot of things here, I know you can see that a lot of things are happening in the world. I am just trying to get you and me to really trust God for EVERYTHING. DO not wait for someone else to make a difference in the world YOU be the difference, You be the one to smile at someone, to hold the door open for someone, to help someone off the ground when they have fallen, You be the one to give the hug, or an encouraging word. Together we SHALL make a difference.
Pray like your life depends on it. Like if GOD does not come thru you and I are toast.

A letter of love

I wanted to share with you all an excerpt from a letter I shared with a friend of mine. As I wrote him this letter of love, I felt that I was to share a small portion of it with ev everyone. I trust that you all receive it.

Be encouraged my friend....I know that sounds so silly but it is not. Go has called you to follow Him even when you do not understand,or when it is conveinient,or when it is popular. I know this first hand becuase I have been living by faith for some time. What I mean is that Jesus called me to leave everything I know and want behind and I have been pressing in to do His will and only His will for about 10 yrs or more. I have been saved for over 20 but in 2000 God had me leave all to follow Him and let Him provide for me everything I need.

In that time you might say that I have lost everything yet gained everything. I have been hurt and beaten yet I have a joy that cannot be manufactured. People do not understand me yet that does not bother me.
I say this because You are walking in this light just as I am and just as those before us have.

I think of a man called HUDSON TAYLOR do you know of Him? Have you read of Him? if not DO IT you will find help. Or what of Smith Wigglesworth or Reese Howells or my favorite, LORAN HELM He was my mentor and friend.

You see God wants you to lean on HIM for everything and I mean EVERYTHING. Not just in ideas or thoughts be for all your needs. He will provide for you what you need when you need it. But there will be a cost. It will be a heavy cost. It will take everything that is in you to pay it, you see there will be a cross waiting just for you yet on the other side of it there is a resurection power that will come into your life that know one will be able to create or manufacture.

I know that you may already know all of this but it is good review. You see just when we are at our weakest God is at His best. He is waiting for you and me to just give up and give in and say UNCLE I quit. Then He can come with His power and strength and show forth His glory in your life and mine.

So Here you are out in the wilderness trusting God, made the move by Faith and God made the provision for you to get there. Do not let doubt come into your mind becauseif God did not want you there He would have stopped you some how. He would have made a way to get that point across to the trusting heart. And when I right that the LORD works in my heart with power.

He is our Father He knows what is best. He has been cheering you onwards into the land of obedience towards his will. He wants you to take a leap of faith. He wants to lead you to higher hieghts and deeper seas. The only way to get there is to say good bye to the "I" the "me" This thing in you that tries to figure everything out, that tries to plan and purpose things. When you are faced with a situation like you are now you try to figure a way out instead of letting God have His way with you and slay this inner self out of you. You see when we do this and He has his way and we die,Praise the LORD He resurects us and His power is made manifest in our lives and He will get all the glory.

Finnaly,

He knows that you are struggling, He knows that you are unsure of what to do, He knows that you are doing all that you know how to do. He knows "you" He LOVES YOU and Has the very best stored up for you. God gives the best to those who leave the choice to Him. never you mind all of those thoughts of doubt in your heart right now. Pay no attention to what it looks like, do not focus your eyes on what you think it is only say to God," You got me here, I am yours, I have no plan other than to let you slay me and use me as your love slave"

A few more thoughts from my heart

As I am sitting here listening to some of my tunes that are posted online at various places I am amazed at some of them. If I may say so myself, if I was just a listener and not a musician, I would listen to Mark Allan Wolfe. I know it sounds weird but I would. I like some of my songs some more than others. If I did not I would post them. I must confess that I forget somethings more than others, for instance, what blogs get what info :0)

I was thinking of a saong I wrote called, "Take me back" about my journey to Israel in 93' I still to this day cannot believe I was in the Holy land and my journey was so incredible and amazing to tell of it would be almost imposible as well other than thru music and my guitar. Take a few minutes to go listen to it and try to imagine what I saw and felt there as I was in the land of the BIBLE.

This Blog will be a place where I can share with you some of my thoughts on scriptures, share experiences I have had and all the little things in between. I will try not to bore you but try to make things interesting. I will not try to offend you but I will always share the truth and some times it hurts,stings but always brings freedom and healing.

I would also like to say that I am not afraid to share with you what I think and what I believe. You do NOT have to accept it or even believe what I say it is all good to me I am just a messenger you do with it what you feel best.

Yes, prayers do get answered

Hello,
My name is Donna. I would like to tell you a little story of an answered prayer. I met this young man at my job and I felt it impressed upon my heart to just love on him daily.. Unknowing at first to a severe drug problem that he ,but over time of knowing him I began to realize he had something going on in his life. I began to share with him the Love of the Lord and how much Jesus loved him and that thru Christ Jesus he could conquer any demon. Knowing that I needed to get him to talk to my husband Mark a pastor but still unsure of how I would accomplish this I just picked up the phoned and called Mark who was with a group of Pastors at a waiting upon God in another state. Mark prayed with this young man on the phone. After hanging up with him Mark and his friends spent some time that day praying for him.The prayer was that he would be delivered from drugs and find peace in his life. Never the less a few days went by and this young man never showed back up at work. It has now been two weeks and I get a phone call from this young man. He called me to say thanks to every body who prayed for him. He is drug free!! PRAISE THE LORD. Although, he has lost his job in the process of his recovery he is free from the addiction he had and he felt impressed to call me to say thank you.
